- General
- The Gordon Head Baseball Association (GHBA) provides a comprehensive baseball program for players from 4 to 12 years old, in 5 separate divisions – Blastball, Initiation, Novice, Mosquito and Pee Wee – with players grouped according to ages. The age of the player is determined by how old the player was as of midnight December 31, 2011 (for the 2012 baseball season). We are part of the British Columbia Minor Baseball Association (BCMBA) and locally, play under the jurisdiction of the Greater Victoria Minor Baseball Association (GVMBA). Our program has three distinct playing seasons, depending on player age and ability:
- Spring (April to June) – for recreational and developmental baseball at the Blastball, Initiation and Novice levels and for competitive city-wide house ball at the Mosquito and Pee Wee levels.
- Summer (July and August) – for All-Star competitive baseball at the Mosquito and Pee Wee level; and
- Fall (September and October) – for single level, recreational house ball for 11 and 12 year olds (run through Lambrick Park Baseball Association)
- Spring
- Blastball - age 4 - born in 2007 or 2008
- Initiation (T-Ball) - ages 5 and 6 - born in 2005 and 2006
- Novice (Tadpole) - ages 7 and 8 - born in 2003 and 2004
- Mosquito - ages 9 and 10 - born in 2001 and 2002

- Summer All-Star Tournament Teams
General
Players registered in the Pee Wee and Mosquito divisions are eligible to play tournament baseball in July and August. These programs draw players from all teams within the Greater Victoria Minor Baseball Association and tier tournament players into 'A', 'AA' and 'AAA' teams according to age and ability. Tryouts for tournament teams commonly take place in May and June. Prior to that we will also run a "Prospects" program to give interested players a chance to play some other ball against other park's Prospect teams.
Prospects
The Gordon Head Pee Wee and Mosquito programs run a "Prospects" program every season. Coaches are asked to identify 2-4 players from each house league team that are interested in playing all-star baseball or who simply want some extra playing time at a higher level of competition. These teams will then play exhibition games against "Prospects" teams from other parks.
Tryouts
Tryouts for Mosquito and Pee Wee All-Star teams commonly take place in June.
Games
Pee Wee and Mosquito All-Star teams commonly will play games on the weekends in July which then lead up to Island and Provincial Championships that are usually held on the August long weekend and the preceding weekend to that. At the Pee Wee level, depending on the tier, Provincial Championships are held later in August, and depending on success, there is a possibility to advance to both Western Canadian and National championship tournaments. Mosquito all-star teams complete their season on the August long weekend.

Field Locations

Note that the Mosquito diamond (The Wilf Sadler Field) is at the end of the gravel driveway where Lambrick Way curves hard to the left. Do NOT take this curve, instead, go straight off of it on to and follow this all the way to the end. The building you will run straight into is our clubhouse and our Mosquito field . Please note that there is limited parking in the lot here, especially during Senior Men's baszeball games. Additional parking is available in front of the Gordon Head Recreation Centre southwest of the field.
PeeWee or Initiation/Novice divisions games and practices are held on the "Upper Lambrick" portion of the park: parking and access is easier from Tyndall Avenue. The parking lot will be on your left just after the first set of houses.
Note, please do NOT leave valuables in your vehicle here as we have had the odd problem with break-ins while games are in progress.
